Thank you for keeping these great dramas alive. Your commentary brings very helpful context to the dramas.
I do have a question I am curious about. Whenever Johnny goes to the South, such as in this story, locals have southern accents, but New Englanders rarely do. In the Meg’s Palace Matter, Meg has an Irish accent, Captain Bill and one of his crew have British accents, and everyone else had General American accents. No one had a New England accent.
Was it just that most Americans at the time were more familiar with southern accents than New England accents?
