Adam,
I enjoy your show a great deal. I listen to it and a few others featuring OTR detective shows. My all-time favorite is Pat Novak. Great Language. Incredible sense of atmosphere. Second that for Jeff Regan. I like Jack Webb better on these than in Dragnet. Maybe that’s sacrilege, but its true.
Another one that I think is very well written and acted is Barry Craig. I heard William Gargen was actually a private detective for a while. Maybe that’s why his character is so memorable. I hope he makes it on your ‘Yea’ list.
I’m surprised you’re considering vetoing Sam Spade. That’s a well-written show. Maybe it’s not true to the original, but then neither is Sherlock Holmes. It reminds me a little of some of the punchier versions of Phillip Marlowe, which is also a fave. But I have to confess, some of that may be because for me Chandler is the best detective author ever.
Your beginning line up has been awesome with Patsy, Jeff Regan, Box 13, Johnny Dollar and George Valentine. Thanks again for keeping the flame burning bright. I look forward to hearing more.
Michael
