Listen to “The Old Time Radio Snack Wagon” on Spreaker.
Step up to the Old Time Radio Snack Wagon, where we’re serving up weekly slices of Old Time Radio goodness!
Each week on the Old Time Radio Snack Wagon, we’ll take you back in time to the Golden Age of Radio. On any given episode, you could hear a self-contained audio drama, an old time radio comedy skit, a news or educational program, an interview, an inspirational poem, a great storyteller, or a slice of life from a world that was. We may play self-contained short programs or clips from longer shows.
The Old Time Radio Snack Wagon is dedicated to exploring the breadth of the Golden Age of Radio and all it has to offer, in short sample-sample-size episodes. As a general rule, the programming shared will be fifteen minutes or less, and never more than twenty minutes, with limited commentary.
Suggestions:
Do you have a suggestion for us to serve up on the Old Time Radio Snack Wagon? We welcome your suggestions. You can contact us from the Great Detectives of Old Time Radio About page.
Keep in mind the following:
- We want clips or programs that are relatively self-contained. We’re not interested in playing, for example, the entire twenty-six-episode series Green Valley Line. If you have a suggestion for a specific program, please limit it to something that’s self-contained and under 20 minutes in length. The shorter it is, the greater the chance I’ll end up using it.
- We’re not interested in playing popular songs by popular singers (exs: Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, Dinah Shore, Doris Day, Gene Autry). Any music-centric programs we play will be obscure, out there, forgotten and off the beaten path.
- Generally, I’ll only respond to a suggestion if I have questions or need clarification.
- If you suggest a program and I decide to use it, I’ll make every effort to acknowledge you in the episode unless you request otherwise.
The Old Time Radio Snack Wagon opens for Business on August 7th.
