That ending was horrific. All the US did was shut down the outflow of money direct to China. It did nothing to protect the people being threatened back there, and quite a few of them probably suffered injury or death as examples before the protection racket ring realized they needed to change tactics. Worse, people in actual need of help from US relatives are now shut off from that assistance, leading to more tragedies.
Moreover, the whole thing most likely resumed in short order, only now it would target relatives in countries other than chine, of which there are still going to be plenty – some in the US, even. No indication that anyone was jailed for this, no indication of any cooperation with China (very much the enemy after all) to help law enforcement worldwide protect their own ex-pat citizens. Got our hero a headline and inconvenienced some criminals briefly. That’s it.
Show really was going to be like Dragnet going by this. Full of simplistic “solutions” that don’t actually work preached at us by Confident Radio Voices.
