The plot of “A World of His Own” was very close to Raymond Chandler’s “Farewell, my Lovely”.
A lovable punch-drunk sap still holds a torch for the woman who left him and moved on to marry into society.

Billy echoes Moose Molloy, Mrs. What’s-her-name echoes Velma. There are differences, but the main plot-line is the same.

But hey, if you’re gonna steal, steal from the best. Both works were well done and treated with respect and style.

I’m glad you bent the definition of “detective” and included “Night Beat” as your new series. I’m looking forward to hearing Bill Conrad again as “The Expectant Father,” one of my favorites.
