Adam, I’m confused. I must have missed the Box 13 announcement. I listened to the rationale for repeating Johnny Dollar and including the new (lost) episodes of Let George Do It. But the Box 13 episodes are not new lost episodes, right? At least when I listened to episode 2967 there was no explanation in the intro or ending monologue as to why Box 13 is being broadcasted. I checked the website as well but again didn’t find an explanation. If this was covered in another episode can you direct me to the number? If they are new (lost) episodes I want to listen, but if they are repeats like Johnny Dollar and Dragnet, well, not so much.

There are no new episodes of Box 13. There are two rationales for why we are doing a replay.

First, we are running out of new Detective programs to play. Even with doing a replay of Box 13, adding programs that I’d planned not to play like Philo Vance and Bulldog Drmmon, adding two weeks of vacation per year with reruns being uploaded, and replaying Box 13, we will be completely out of new series to play in five years. (Although we will have a year or so of episodes of the Falcon and a few years of episodes of Broadway’s My Beat.) So doing a replay now, forestalls the time when we won’t have any new episodes to play.

Second, I liked the idea that in our first season, we started our first decade of podcasts with Box 13, that we’ll start our second decade same way. One thing I’ve discovered as we’ve started going through Johnny Dollar again, is if even you’ve heard something before, listening to it again years later can be a different experience as you’re a different person than you were 9 or 10 years ago. That said, I totally get if people want to skip this relisten, particularly if they’ve listened to the original more recently than I have.

    Second,
